Snake of the Swamps

So, hi there! I'm back again from the dead, the hospital and various other unpleasant places!
This is my birthday gift for , a fantastic writer, artist and person. I've loved her character Irris ( [link] ) for quite some time, but didn't have any time at all to express that admiration. Now, however, I'm lying in my bed with a broken leg and a twisted knee and have all the time in the blinkin' world to get artsy. Wthout going into further details about that incident, it was dark, I couldn't find the lightswitch or see the approaching cat. And besides, that staircase jumped me. Evil stairs. I've had surgery already and I'm gonna be fine, but ouch. Just ouch.

Anyway, back to the important stuff. So, a while ago, *sleyf created this 'animal meme' ( [link] ), where you take your OCs and depict them as whatever animal would suit them best. Irris got a snake. Truly fitting, since his name means 'Snake of the Swamps', which is also the name of a poisonous herb. I fell in love with that idea right away and decided to vent some creative steam. And here you go. What you see here is Irris in the shape of a snake ( I took the common European adder as a reference, failed horribly, but meh) accompanied by his namesake, the plant Irris. I had no idea what the plant should look like, so I typed 'Irris' into the DAsearch and got this --> [link] so I went ahead and used it as a reference, sorry if it doesn't look at all like that .
Overall, I'm not very happy with how this turned out. For a good few hours of work, it looks way too half assed and sketchy. Forgive me, Irris, I did not at all do you justice. Sorry about that, but I'm on a humongous amount of painkillers, so I can be proud of myself for having typed so much, let alone drawn anything.
